The Perfect French Dip Sandwich

A classic recipe for tender roast beef, melted provolone cheese, and rich au jus.

French Dip Sandwich

Ingredients

  • 1 lb thinly sliced roast beef
  • 4 hoagie rolls, split
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Heat beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder in a saucepan for 5–7 minutes.
  3. Butter and toast the hoagie rolls until golden, about 5 minutes.
  4. Layer roast beef on the rolls, top with provolone, and bake until the cheese melts.
  5. Pour warm au jus into individual bowls for dipping.
  6. Serve the sandwiches hot with au jus on the side.
